This page describes the operating procedure for the CERN-supported GSM mobile telephones.

Making a call  < New >
Inside the CUG area (Sunrise GSM network):

To a CERN extension or a CERN GSM telephone:
Dial the number beginning with 7 or 16 and then press "Call"   OR     Dial the full international number followed by "Call"
eg.: 7xxxx "Call" (for a CERN internal number)
or: 16xxxx "Call" (for a CERN GSM telephone)
eg.: +41 22 767 xxxx (for a CERN internal number)
or:   +41 76 487 xxxx (for a CERN GSM telephone)

From July 2007,  the prefix 333 before calling an external number is no longer needed. Your phone behaves like a national Swiss mobile phone.

Depending on your access authorization, you may call outside lines

To a Swiss number:
Dial the local number followed by “Call”   OR     Dial the full international number followed by Call
eg.: 022 xxx xxxx “Call” (for a fixed phone)
or :  076 xxx xxxx “Call” (for a mobile phone)
eg.: +41 22 xxx xxxx “Call” (for a fixed phone)
or:   +41 76 xxx xxxx “Call” (for a mobile phone)

To any international number:
Dial the full international number followed by “Call
eg.: 00 33 xx xx xx xx (for France)
00 39 ….(for Italy)
00 1 ….. (for the USA)

Depending on your external calling rights, a voice guide may invite you to define your type of call by pressing 1 or 2.

Note that for numbers above 16 digits, you will still have to use the old procedure below.
